A crocodile stitch flower......

This flower will be added to yesterday's cowl as a decoration:
The pattern for this flower can be found here:
http://bonitapatterns.com/blogs/news/9778950-free-crocodile-stitch-flower-pattern
And here it is added to the cowl:

A basic cowl.......

This cowl is made in rounds using a half treble crochet followed by one chain all the way round, with the next row being worked in the chain spaces from the previous round:
The basic stitch really shows off the pattern in this wool-bamboo mix yarn.
The ides for this came from here:

A winter cowl......

This cowl uses the corner to corner stitch and some fabulous silk - merino wool in a lovely grey/purple colour:
I'm looking forward to it getting cold enough to wear it!

Wagon wheel.....

Today's square uses a combination of double and double treble stitches in rounds plus chains and trebles for the wheel effect:
I'm hoping that joining it to other squares will make it a bit squarer itself!

The Big Knit (or crochet!).....

Today I have been using up scraps of wool making these cool mini hats for the Innocent Big Knit:
I also got my bobble rings out for the cute bobbles on each of them. Just got to get them in the post now!

Simple cross......

My busy weekend is coming to an end, and it's time to settle down in front of the 'Strictly' results show with my crochet hook. A basic square with a raised cross created by working a front post double treble  crochet round the central stitch on each side of the previous round:

Busy busy......

As I have a very busy weekend ahead I thought I'd better get today's square made and my blog post completed before my friends arrive...
So this morning I completed a pretty in pink square, again it was made up as I went along using a combination of double, treble and double treble stitches:

Crop circles......

Today's square is the start of a new ball of wool:
This will go with the turquoise and multi squares made over the past couple of months - so you can expect a few more pink squares over the coming days!
The pattern for this one can be found here:

A blue and green blanket......

This evening I have finished my latest blanket in blue and green, having joined the squares together with double crochets in cream they have been edged with a round of double crochets:
The challenge is to spot which of these small squares have been modified from their original post.....

A winter burst....

Today's square is the final one in my next blanket:
The pattern for this square can be found here:

As you can see from the picture I have started to join the squares together, here is a picture of all the squares arranged ready to join:

Snowflakes.......

It might be a bit early for snow, but it's never too early for crocheted snowflakes:

This is square number 26 from the crochet blocks book.

Textures.......

Today's square takes the basic granny and adds some texture by using the alternating double crochet and double treble crochet in the stitches from the previous round:

More basics......

Four rounds of a basic granny square surrounded by two rounds of treble crochets and a round of double crochets makes the final pale green square for the latest blanket:

Patriotic sunburst......

And one more square from the book:
Square number 65, again using up the scraps of blue wool left over from modifying some of the other squares for my current blanket.

Coffee and cream 2......

This square also comes from the crochet squares book, it is square number 165:

A square target......

Today's square is another one from the crochet blocks book - square number 3:

A white flower.......

Another 'making it up as I go along' square, starting with a flower which I have then edged with a series of basic treble rounds:

Spirals.....

I can see me creating many more squares of this pattern - it's very easy to make and a very effective pattern (there is a note in the pattern about working the spiral in opposite direction to create a cool effect when the squares are put together!)

Amending squares......

With the bright blanket finished its time to take a look at the squares I've created this year and see if there are any others with a common theme that I could make into my next blanket. I have quite a number in blue/green/white made from the leftovers of the first two blankets I made this year, but one downside of the random nature of this project is that the squares aren't necessarily all the same size - so I spent some time this morning adding rounds to some and removing them from others to try and rectify this! As a result I had some leftovers to use up:

Bright blanket........

I've spent the last few days joining together all of the bright squares I made:
They have been joined by white wool using double crochet stitches, they have also been edged by a round of double crochets.
I'll be adding this to my etsy store later today.

A plain square.....

For the final turquoise square I thought I'd make one that is plain, it should contrast well with the many other patterned squares that will eventually make up this blanket:
This is made with simple rounds of treble crochets, each corner has two trebles, two chains and two trebles in it.

Diagonal ridges........

Following on from yesterday's square with the ridges coming out of the centre today's square uses the same stitch but this time worked in rows rather than rounds:
The picture doesn't show the ridges very clearly but they give the square a really lovely texture.

Do the twist......

Today's square is very similar to ones I have made before - it takes the basic granny square and adds a twist stitch in the corner, this adds a ridge coming out from the centre to each corner:

8000 views.........

I can't believe that I have managed to complete 9 whole months of this project - only three more to go! However what is even more amazing is that this simple little blog has now had just short of 8000 views - thank you to you all for visiting, I hope you enjoy what you see and have maybe tried of few of the patterns for yourself! One of the major things this project has given me is the confidence to go with the flow and make a pattern up as I go along - and this is what I have done today:
The bobbly rounds are made by working a double crochet and a double treble crochet in each stitch around, I also really like the large corners created by using the double treble stitch here too!

Plain as plain can be........

Sometimes in a project you just need a bit of plain, no more fancy patterns - twists, turns, flowers or bobbles, and today was that day! A simple square made entirely of rows of double crochets edged with a round of double crochets to make it easier to join to other squares:
