Corner to corner crochet cafetiere cosy.......

After making a few mug cosies as gifts for friends and family my mum suggested I could extend this to cafetiere cosies. This uses the corner to corner stitch to create a lovely textured finish:

The basic rectangle needed the addition of a couple of tabs, a button and button hole so it can be held in position.
And a panoramic picture of today's trip to Lyme Regis......

Two basic stitches......

A central basic granny square surrounded by two rounds of treble crochets and a round of half treble crochets:

Again I have used white wool in the centre in an attempt to make the colours go further!

Running out of wool!

I have been making brightly coloured squares for my latest blanket, however a few quick calculations suggest I won't have enough wool to finish it off using just the bright colours...... So a change of plan is required, today's square includes a central white circle to try and help:

The pattern for this is 'a big round' from the crochet squares book.

Bright striped square.......

Another busy day, another square I didn't need to concentrate on:

Made up of alternating rounds of treble and double crochets to create wider than average stripes.

Multi coloured basic granny.......

Tuesday night means its time for the Great British Bake Off - and not even crochet can interrupt that, this meant today's square had to be pretty basic so I decided on this multi coloured basic granny square:

What is very useful about squares like this is that you can easily work the ends in as you go meaning minimal sewing in when you've finished!

A square within a square......

Today's square is another one from the hooks and yarns blog, I have added a couple of extra rounds in order to make it large enough for my project:

Wise man number 1!

I'm working on a children's nativity scene (along with all my squares!) and today I managed to get the first figure finished - a wise man, complete with gift. If I do say so myself I'm rather pleased with how it's turned out!
