Bright blanket........

I've spent the last few days joining together all of the bright squares I made:

 They have been joined by white wool using double crochet stitches, they have also been edged by a round of double crochets.

I'll be adding this to my etsy store later today.

A plain square.....

For the final turquoise square I thought I'd make one that is plain, it should contrast well with the many other patterned squares that will eventually make up this blanket:

This is made with simple rounds of treble crochets, each corner has two trebles, two chains and two trebles in it.

Diagonal ridges........

Following on from yesterday's square with the ridges coming out of the centre today's square uses the same stitch but this time worked in rows rather than rounds:

The picture doesn't show the ridges very clearly but they give the square a really lovely texture.

Do the twist......

Today's square is very similar to ones I have made before - it takes the basic granny square and adds a twist stitch in the corner, this adds a ridge coming out from the centre to each corner:

8000 views.........

I can't believe that I have managed to complete 9 whole months of this project - only three more to go! However what is even more amazing is that this simple little blog has now had just short of 8000 views - thank you to you all for visiting, I hope you enjoy what you see and have maybe tried of few of the patterns for yourself! One of the major things this project has given me is the confidence to go with the flow and make a pattern up as I go along - and this is what I have done today:

The bobbly rounds are made by working a double crochet and a double treble crochet in each stitch around, I also really like the large corners created by using the double treble stitch here too!

Plain as plain can be........

Sometimes in a project you just need a bit of plain, no more fancy patterns - twists, turns, flowers or bobbles, and today was that day! A simple square made entirely of rows of double crochets edged with a round of double crochets to make it easier to join to other squares:

More making it up as I go......

A day of waiting for students to pass check points and checking they are ok gave me time to make today's square whilst sat in the sunshine in a pretty Cotswolds village:

I love the swirl effect of the spaced out slightly longer double treble stitch, one to use again I think.
