Crocheting in the dark!

This weekend I have been away on what I hope will the last expedition of the year, one of the problems of camping at this time of year is that it is dark by just after 7pm! So last night I had to finish making my square by head torch light...... Can you tell where the daylight disappeared???
Obviously with it being dark I also couldn't follow a pattern so I found myself making it up as I went along!

A repeat.....

I really liked the orange square I made the other day, starting with a basic granny and then turning it diagonally to finish off the rest of the square:

Bobbley.....

Today's square is a return to one of my favourite stitches - the bobble! A simple square with a 7x7 arrangement of the bobbles:
The bobble stitch is made by working 4 unfinished treble crochets and then pulling the yarn through all 5 loops on the hook, the rest of the row will be double crochets and in this square 2 stitches were worked between each bobble.

Red Square......

Part of the plan when I started this project was to use up the odds and ends of yarn I had lying around and today's square does exactly that:
This is a random made up square using mainly the treble crochet stitch - one of the joys of making it up as you go along is not having to concentrate on a pattern, meaning you can concentrate on something else instead and tonight it was the life of pi - what an extraordinary film!

Pretty slippers.....

In an attempt to get ahead with my Christmas presents I have made a start on the homemade gifts with these pretty slippers:
These are for my six year old god daughter - I just hope her feet don't grow too much in the next three months!

The final bright square.......

Today's square is the last one of the 25 needed to make a square blanket in various bright colours:
I found this pattern on Pinterest, however the link was broken so I had to work I out for myself - essentially it is groups of 5 treble crochets in each space, the two sets in each corner are separated by two chains.
I have also arranged to squares ready to join together:

Only 100 to go!

I can't believe this is post number 265, meaning I only have another 100 to go after today......
(And I'm really pleased that an update of my phone means I can now take square photos - no more excess space above and below my squares!!)
The pattern for today's square can be found here:
